Festival of Philippine Arts and Culture (FPAC)

Join us for the 17th Annual Festival of Philippine Arts and Culture (FPAC) on September 6 & 7, 2008 at Point Fermin Park in San Pedro, CA. FPAC is Southern California’s largest and longest running Filipino tradition. FPAC is made possible by over 250 participating artists, 400 volunteers and 25,000 attendees over the weekend. Set in the breathtaking seaside park of Point Fermin, FPAC has something for the whole family to enjoy.

Headlining this year’s Festival is Latin Soul Living Legend, Joe Bataan. Described as a romantic street punk, a jailbird with spirit, a champion of the blue-collar underdog - Joe Bataan is a rebel with soul. Known for such hits as “Ordinary Guy (Afrofilipino),” “Gypsy Woman,” and “Mi Nube (My Cloud)” Joe Bataan’s music has a multigenerational and multicultural reach. He returns to FPAC to bless us again with his music and boundless energy.

Also headlining this year is Christine “Happy Slip” Gambito. An internet celebrity, Happy Slip is the #8 most subscribed ever on YouTube and has had over 6 million hits!!! Earlier this year, she was also named an Ambassador by the Department of Tourism, Philippines.

In addition to Joe Bataan and Happy Slip, we are proud to bring back some FPAC favorites, such as Bambu, Anthony Castelo, Kayamanan Ng Lahi Philippine Folk Arts, Ronalla Club of Los Angeles, Kiwi, the Committee, Sampaguita Dance Ensemble, KULTURA, IMB Academy, the Balut eating contest, Seniors’ Vegetable contest, the youth Ati-Atihan parade, live art and painting at the Pilipino Artist Network Pavilion and much much more.

We are also excited to introduce newcomers to the Festival, such as the Tinikling Dance Battle and Modern Dance Showcase featuring Kaba Modern, as well as a whole variety of amazing performers.
