A showcase of more than sixty trompe l’oeil paintings by this self-taught artist. Erbe is internationally recognized for his realistic style of painting and has exhibited throughout the United States. Trompe l’oeil (to fool the eye) is illusionist painting that goes back to Ancient Rome, 17-century Dutch painting, and 19th-century American painting by the likes of William Harnett and John Frederick Peto. This forty-year retrospective of Erbe’s best work depicting pop culture of the 1950s, 60s, and 70s was organized by the Butler Institute of American Art.

You don’t need to leave town to visit a farm this harvest weekend. Come to the Rio Grande Botanic Garden’s Heritage Farm to sample the fruits, vegetables, smells, tastes and sounds of the fall harvest. Find out how cider is made and sample our fresh cider pressed on-site. Docents will be stationed at kitchen garden, orchard, vineyard and house with demonstrations and interpretive activites, crafts and games; and old-time bands will provide music. The full harvest moon will rise over the Sandias just after 6:00 pm Saturday night.

The 2008 Downtown Growers’ Market / Farmers’ Market will open Saturday June 7th at Robinson Park. Located in the heart of Downtown Albuquerque, Robinson Park is at the corner of 8th Street and Central Ave. Our season kickoff will feature special foods and beverages, great live entertainment and plenty of fun for the kids.

The Downtown Growers’ Market is a growers only open air market featuring 100% locally grown New Mexico produce. The OFFCenter annual folk art festival We Art the People is a community celebration of art making and folk artists.
